Road King Riders 2009 Rendezvous

We left Darlington, WI at 7:30 AM and headed on our way to 39 south in IL.

Illinois is a pretty flat and boring state, but there are still a few nice roads if you can find them.  This was on our way to Dixon, IL.

Made it to Dixon, IL.  Now it's time for breakfast.

Made it to Medota, IL.  Time to hit Interstate 39 South.

It was my turn to take a picture and give Deb the trip photographer a break as we cross the Indiana border on Hwy 24 East.

Entering Ohio.  Getting late and trying to hit Urbana before calling it a day after
hitting 485 miles when we got there.

After spending the night at Urbana, OH, we stopped at Athens, OH at a Harley dealer to see if they could sell me a new cradle for my Garmin... CLOSED on a Monday - Go figure!  Time to get out the atlas.

Around 2:00 PM on day 2 we finally hit West Virginia.

It is just gorgeous out in WV.

Pulling in to the Canaan Valley Resort up to the Lodge.

Time to meet up with the rest of the folks.  I belong to a Delphi Web Forum called the Road King Riders.  (No you don't have to own a Road King)  We met up with 65 other people when we got there for a week of great WV roads.  These folks were a blast to hang with.  We even got escorted to bed on Friday night by the security officers! (quiet time is 10PM to 6AM - it was 10:45 when escorted off the parking lot)

Off to supper with the group.  Big John's Family Fixins - Great Food!  This is only about 1.5 miles north of the resort.  The owner "John" is originally from Rockford, IL.  Small world.

Pre-ride meeting time.  Every ride started with a meeting.  We even had two wonderful people who were EMT's with us on our rides.

Let's Roll Out!!!

Here comes the convoy through 9% grade hills and 25 mph corners at the bottom.

Break time.

Time to head back and head for home.

Heading home we decided to hit the tail west side of Maryland.

and up through Pennsylvania just under Pittsburg and back to Ohio and home.

Next years Road King Riders Rendezvous is in Kanab, Utah - May 17-21.
We are strongly considering going to that also.
